Futurity

 

The purpose of the Arizona State Dairy Goat Association (ASDGA) Futurity is to promote and recognize quality dairy goats bred by members of ASDGA.  It is our hope ASDGA breeders will accept the opportunity to show their skills as breeders of productive, well conformed dairy goats.  In return, be rewarded by advertising and monetary benefits resulting from winning.  Remember, the more that participate, the better the return!

 

Eligibility:

 

1.      Must be ADGA registered Purebred or American does of the following breeds:  Alpine, LaMancha, Nigerian Dwarf, Nubian, Oberhasli, Saanen, Sable, and Toggenburg.

2.      Nominations may be made only by current members in good standing of ASDGA for doe kids owned by them, whether bred by them or bred by and purchased from another breeder.

3.      Any number of does may be nominated by owner/breeder.

4.      Any doe sold following initial nomination remains eligible, regardless of ownership; provided subsequent re-nomination payments are made and the Futurity Chairperson has been notified of transfer of ownership.

5.      No refunds will be made whether an animal remains eligible for the futurity or not.  The responsibility of re-nomination rests solely with the current owner.

6.      Two-year-old does MUST be entered in at least ONE ring, other than the Futurity Class, at the ASDGA Memorial Weekend Show.

 

Nomination Rules:

 

  1. All nominations for doe kids and re-nomination payments must be made and post-marked no later than December 31st.  Does will be declared ineligible if payment is not received by the deadline.  Postmarks will govern all nominations and re-nominations.
  2. To remain eligible, the animal must be re-nominated each year.  Re-nomination fees are paid by the current owner regardless of who made initial nomination.
  3. Nominations must be kept current in order to be eligible to enter the futurity class at the ASDGA Memorial Weekend Show as a 2-year-old.
  4. Two-year-old does entering the futurity class must have their current year re-nomination fee paid by May 15th.

 

Futurity Class:

 

  1. All eligible 2-year-old does and all breeds will compete in one futurity class as milkers at the ASDGA Memorial Weekend Show.  Winners will receive all proceeds accumulated, less 10% for administrative expenses.
  2. Tattoos and registration of all entries will be checked BEFORE the goats enter the ring for competition.
  3. Cash prizes will be awarded as follows:
    1. 1st Prize         45%

     2nd Prize        25%

     3rd Prize        15%

     4th Prize        10%

     5th Prize          5%

 

Fees (effective January 1, 2006):

 

           First Year – Doeling           $  2.00

           Second Year – Yearling     $  5.00

           Third Year – 2-year-old      $10.00
